ESSEX COUNTY STANDARD - Saturday 11 October 1941 - “ROWHEDGE - NURSING - An examination in home nursing was held at the A.R.P. First Aid Point by Mrs. Clenden, of Colchester, for the first aid members who had received a valuable course of lectures given by Miss. Byford, asst. matron, Essex County Hospital. The names of the successful candidates were:- Mrs. D. Allen, Mrs. Russell Barr, Mrs. Bedford, Mrs. I. Cook, Mrs. S. Cork, Mrs. D. Cranfield, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. D.F. Rose, Mrs. Turner Springett, Mrs. B.A. Wakeland, Mrs. Wooller, Miss. Chapman, Miss. Jean Carter.”
